NEWS "Hats Off" to our Staff at Brown's Restaurant! We have been notified by the writers of "Where to Eat in Canada" that we have been chosen once again as one of the best in Canada for the fifth consecutive year. Read about us in their 2009 edition. The restaurant is also listed in the "95 Best Buys" in Canada. This year come and celebrate Cupids 400, the largest cultural event in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2010. And what is celebrated here has meaning for every English speaking Canadian. For English Canada began John Guy's choice of Cupids as his new home. And throughout 2010 we will not only tell their stories, we will celebrate their legacy. Scroll to the bottom of this page and Click the Cupids 400 link to learn more. For those of you hoping to experience a little boat excursion around the bay to catch a few cod, we will provide the dates here for the food fishery as soon as it is announced. Annual Whiteway Days celebrations take place July 29 - August 1, 2010 and includes car show, folk festival, games of chance, boat flotilla, adult fun night, adult dance... 3rd Annual Cavendish Beach Festival will take place Aug. 13-15, 2010. Friday: Deal or No Deal, a weekend long scavenger hunt, an extraordinary fireworks show, wiener and marshmallow roast and live entertainment!!! Saturday: Games of chance, a bike parade, magic show, bouncy castle, face painting, horseshoe tournament, sale tables, live band: "Redline" for Adult Dance and much much more!!! Sunday: Games of chance, a church service and a folk festival. Visitors in May and June of 2009 got to see a huge Iceberg that had found its way to our bay. "The berg" attracted plenty of visitors and photographers. People had quite an experience with a view of "the berg" along with the sight of playful humpback whales putting on a show for all to admire! An iceberg drifts here for a visit almost every year and while the berg has melted and is smaller now, we did save you a piece for your drink from the bar at Brown's Restaurant. We have no icebergs yet this year but will be sure to post our iceberg news here upon their spring arrival!
